When I started my journey in financial markets 16 years ago, beginning to train on the job, I realised there was a lot to unlearn before learning — and that most of what we learnt from textbooks lacked intuition. On a trading desk, the understanding comes from following cash flows at the time of execution; textbook equations simply make that picture theoretically precise.
